Reception at Preschool
All areas of the Reception curriculum contribute to create a safe environment for children to be happy and interested in their learning at preschool.
Literacy
Learning at preschool, the early skills of literacy and language are vital and activities are planned around many activities using the Jolly Phonics Programme;
- Say sounds and link them to the alphabet
- Read and write some familiar words
- Use a pencil with control movements
Numeracy
Children at preschool initially work in a practical way to learn the early stages of Numeracy;
- Comparing and sorting
- Matching and ordering
- Sequencing and counting
