Young Toddlers ( 1 Year Olds)
We’ve had a very busy week, full of activities. We made some delicious butter cookies, painted a blue sky and a blue fish.
Next week we will be learning about the colour yellow, and we will be painting flower pots. We will learn that plants and flowers need soil, water and sun to grow.
We would also like to welcome Tiago Pinto to our classroom!
Song:
Yellow flowers, blue flowers,
Red flowers, I can see.
Pink flowers, orange flowers
In the garden I can see.
Toddlers (2 Year Olds)
This season we’ve been learning some new words related to Winter: clothes, animals, and even fruits... (Thank you Nani for your lovely contribution). We have been having fun looking at the weather everyday as we fill our weather chart. We have been playing a game on name recognition by putting a smiley face next to our name, and we are very excited about this new discovery.
We would like a recipe from each family, something simple that you do together at home. It doesn't have to be printed on paper it can be hand written but the paper needs to be an A5 size. We need these recipes in as soon as possible as a lovely surprise awaits you!! Oh... one more thing... at the end of the school year we all have a crafty surprise in store for you, and we will need the parents co-operation with a little project. We'll be giving you more information on this assignment on the next newsletter... Our favourite song this week is:
“An apple for you an apple for me,
an apple for you,
one, two, three.”
Nursery News (3 Year Olds)
We will be working on numbers from 1 to 5, including recognition, counting and tracing. Children will be engaged in different activities in order to gain better number recognition. We will be working on vocabulary related activities. Children will be learning simple words in English and explore the meaning of the new words.
We will continue to work on basic pencil skills/fine motor skills.
One, two, three, four, five. Once I caught a fish alive, Six, seven, eight, nine ,ten, Then I let it go again. Why did you let it go? Because it bit my finger so. Which finger did it bite? This little finger on my right.
Reception News (4 Year Olds)
These last two weeks we finished our winter theme and we learnt about the 5 senses. We explored them by tasting different flavours, feeling different materials and many more. Now it is time to start working for Valentines Day and Carnival… busy, busy, busy!
We also learnt new vocabulary to describe the objects around us (their position, shape…) and new “High Frequency Words.” I would like to remind you, that it’s important to practice the “High Frequency Words” at home. It will be easier for your son/daughter to recognise them, later, in a text.
Here is a song we learnt about the Five Senses:
(Tune: Where is thumbkin)
Five senses, five senses
We have them. We have them.
Seeing, hearing, touching,
Tasting and smelling.
There are five. There are five.
